Challenge
For this project, rp Visual Solutions (RPV) teamed up with LED Manufacturer Christie Digital and AV Integrator Video Corporation of America (VCA) to engineer and fabricate direct view LED Display Mount Structures for the IAC Corporate Lobby in New York, NY. The space includes two LED walls, with the first wall at 117′ wide, and the second wall at 20′ wide. Both use 1.4mm Christie Velvet CorePlus tiles and when combined equal over 52 million pixels.
Solution
RPV designed and engineered custom floor-to-ceiling support structures for the two video walls. The custom tube steel structures are a combined weight of over 27,000 lbs. and were design-built with a rear service solution. The structure utilizes a backer frame to provide stability, ensure a smooth installation, and offer precision alignment.
RPV’s mounts are designed to remove the building tolerances from the equation and achieve a true and level surface for the LED tiles to attach to. The precision adjustments combined with the stability of the floor-to-ceiling backer frame make and keep the seams of the LED tiles virtually undetectable. Our team of mechanical engineers and fabricators created a custom solution that brings this media and internet company’s digital communication to the world.
