When you think of Vegas, a few words come to mind – glitz, glamour, and gambling. For rp Visual Solutions (RPV), Vegas takes on a whole other set of words: Videowalls, LED, and one-of-a-kind custom solutions. The leaders in creative visual solutions have now added the Wynn Sportsbook to their ever-growing sportsbook portfolio in Las Vegas.
According to Randy Pagnan, President of rp Visual Solutions, “This is lucky number four for us. We’re thrilled that after doing the Westgate Superbook in late 2015, we’ve now designed and engineered three more sportsbooks to date. The Wynn is spectacular in its own right. We’re proud to work with Silicon Core, and Analog Way and Technology West Group to help create this hotel’s contemporary design and luxurious sportsbook experience. It’s one of the bigger videowalls we’ve created at 1,176 Tiles, and 21 million pixels.”
“RPV designed and engineered the custom support system for the Sportsbooks’ videowall that is 168 cabinets wide by 7 cabinets high and comprised of 2.6mm Silicon Core Peony LED. What’s most unique about this design is that its ceiling suspended and architecturally integrated. That’s something we hadn’t done in Vegas to date, but were very eager to create this solution. We worked in concert with the design team to build this impressive videowall that wraps around 3 corners of the book. It spans an area roughly 137 feet wide, and offers a 160° amphitheater like view. Our engineers created this flat-to-curved fixed mount, and had to take into careful consideration structural support challenges as well as concerns with thermalization of the LED. Our solution had to allow for proper air flow due to pressure variations in the room,” commented John Brereton rp Visual's VP of Sales and Operations.
The sportsbook’s signature AV item is the massive, 1,176-tile LED wall. The 2.6mm SiliconCore Peony LED was attached to a custom mount support-and-alignment structure that was purpose built by rp Visual Solutions. The onsite installation of this custom structure was provided by rp Visual’s Applied Services Group installation division (although the actual commissioning of the wall was done by SiliconCore).
rp Visuals Vice President John Brereton said that every manufacturer’s LED display element is somewhat different, requiring a custom mounting solution. In this case, the LED wall had to follow the contour of the original sportsbook, which entailed two roughly 90-degree turns, each with a slightly different degree of radius. In addition, the LED wall runs from the ceiling down to a point about midway to the floor, where it ends atop a line of existing, soffited LCD video displays. To accommodate that, the tiles are laid out 168 tiles long and only seven tiles tall.
“When you work with the best partners on a project, it makes all the difference. Everyone on this project –RPV, Silicon Core, Analog Way… were all instrumental in making this sportsbook spectacular. The Wynn could not be anything less. Hats off to all of the project partners”, adds Richard Reisig, General Manager for Technology West Group.
